FAQs: Frequently asked questions
Q: What are Type C or Lightjet prints?
A: These are chromogenic color prints or full color photographic prints made using chromogenic materials and processes. In the past, this referred to prints made from negatives, internegatives or digital files, but today, it commonly refers to digital files. Type C prints that I offer are printed mainly on Fuji Crystal Archive paper.
Q: How do I care for my photographic image in my office or home environment?
A: To prevent fading, always make sure that your photo is not hanging in direct sunlight or bright light. Also hang the image away from any draft sources put out by A/C or heat vents. Constant air & heat changes can degrade the photo and shorten your hanging pleasure.
Q: What are Giclee prints?
A: Giclee is a digital inkjet print used to reproduce fine art photography and other 2D art. The process uses a refined inkjet printer head with thousands of tiny nozzles that sprays very fine, overlapping layers of archival pigment inks onto paper or canvas to create prints with superior clarity and color.
Q: How are these better than the traditional photographic print?
A: Here is a good explanation and argument for todays technology: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/handmade.shtml
Q: What are Dye Infused Metal Prints?
A: This is a new printing medium achieved by infusing hybrid dyes into a specially coated metal sheet. This process gives the resulting print a vibrancy and brilliance unparalleled by any other printing method. Since the image is infused into the surface and not on it, prints made with this unique process have a superior archival value. They are both resistant to scratches and waterproof. This makes them ideal in high traffic areas, kitchens, bathrooms, hotel and office lobbies. There are also several framing options available. These prints come in a high glossy or satin finish.
Q: What sizes are available for wall décor?
Refer to Purchasing Info for available size information. Larger sizes are available, please call for price quotes. Each image is considered individually. Images scanned from 35mm slides are considered on an individual basis and only printed in very large sizes if the sharpness and quality are not sacrificed. All slides are scanned on high resolution Imacon scanners.
Q: Can I purchase prints unmounted & unmatted?
A: Prints larger than 11 x 14 may be purchased unmounted and/or unmatted. Prints larger than 16 x 20, matted size will be mounted and matted with acid free museum rag.
